In the late 1980s and early 1990s a large number of people were becoming disillusioned with the cutthroat, competitive pressure of the city, they upped sticks and moved out to the country or abroad. They were called ‘rat race refuseniks’. There was also a growing awareness of the thinning ozone layer and deep concerns about the environment. I joined Friends of the Earth and started making this series of paintings.
Some of these works and others in the series are for sale. Please contact me for details.
